Buying Used Gas Cookers
If you are short of a cooker and need something affordable then perhaps you should try looking for used gas cookers. If someone is changing their kitchen then more often than not they will consider getting rid of their gas cooker so they can update the look of their kitchen. This does not mean that the cooker does not work, if fact many good gas cookers (like the freestanding Indesit Cookers) will last more years after their first owner has got rid of them. This means that you can get a functional cooker for a fraction of the price of getting as new oven.
So, what remains now to locate places where you can find used gas cookers. If want to get the cheapest deal you should by your appliance from someone privately. You can find these people in the local classifieds section of newspapers or on advertising sites on the internet (see above for some suggestions). However, it can be more convenient to find a dealer that has a good reputation for used appliances and buy from them. If they are respectable they will do the checks for you so that you know that the cooker that you will buy will work properly.
If you are thinking of looking for privately sold used gas cookers then there are some checks that you can do to make sure what you are buying is works. Firstly, check to see if the ignition sparks on the hobs, oven and grill all light the gas easily and efficiently. These are normally the first things that go wrong on a cooker so if they work well then that is a good sign. Other checks that you can do are to look for deficiencies around the oven lining and the cooking components (is the flame spread evenly around the hobs, over the grill and at the top of the oven). If you do these checks then you should have found yourself a cheap gas cooker that will last for years. Once you begin to look for used gas cookers you will be amazed at how top quality models are available.
