What effects second hand cookers prices

The second hand cookers prices are much cheaper than those of new cookers. In many cases they can be less than half or even a quarter of the price. So what effects the price of your second hand cooker.

  • First the age of the cooker from when it was bought new will have an effect. Like all appliances or functional goods they will depreciate over time (unless you have a rare antique cooker that you are not using). So if the seller bought the cooker two years ago and it is in good condition then it is going to be more expensive than a cooker that was bought 10 years ago. That kind of goes without saying but it is a useful thing to remember to ask over the phone
  • Secondly, the style of the cooker will have some effect on the second hand cookers prices. If the cooker was made by an expensive and stylish brand then this will obviously mean that the electric cooker (or gas cooker) will be more expensive than one that was cheap when it was bought. So, with this in mind, ask the brand names when comparing second hand cookers and look them up on the net to see which brands are the most expensive.
  • And lastly, how versatile the cooker in question is will also have an effect. If the cooker is likely to fit any kitchen then there will be more people able to buy it. If it is an obscure shape an will only fit into a small number of kitchens then there will be fewer people that they can sell to meaning that they will have to lower their price.

How well an oven works should not be factored into second hand cookers prices because with all sales you should assume that the cooker works very well and does everything that is expected of it. There will be some people trying to sell broken electric or gas cookers so make sure you do your checks before handing over the money.

One last tip would be to set your budget before looking for second hand cookers because you could be wowed by a cooker that it way out of your range and when you decide that you can’t afford it all other cookers will pale in comparison.
